The cylindrical die is the housing where the slug is confined while the punch upsets the head. It controls the body diameter, straightness and usable length of the part, serving as the reference for the entire cold forming process. The cylindrical bore must hold a tight tolerance and a fine finish, because it is the surface that 'imprints' the screw body.
Built with a carbide insert mounted in a steel case under pre-stress (to withstand internal pressure without cracking), with a ground and polished bore. KS supplies the die according to the nominal diameter and the fastener standard, and replaces inserts and complete sets while maintaining interchangeability with your tool room.
