The 1st stage punch is the first working tool of the cold former (header) in the manufacture of screws and fasteners by cold forming. It receives the slug cut from the wire and performs the initial upsetting — distributing the volume of material that, in the following stations, will form the head in its final profile. A well-sized first stage is what ensures the correct filling of the die further along, without cracks, folds (laps) or lack of material in the head.
Made of carbide (tungsten carbide) or high-alloy tool steel according to the load and the screw size, with precision grinding and polishing of the working cavity. KS supplies the punch according to the drawing of your machine and fastener — including replacement items for KS, ANSI, DIN, JIS and ISO lines — maintaining interchangeability with the tooling already in use.
